ABOUT US

Dorchester Islamic Centre (DIC) is a registered charity based in Dorchester. Situated in the beautiful county of Dorset and established in 2000, DIC was formed to serve the spiritual and cultural needs of the Muslim community. We strive to live by the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) which promote a peaceful and harmonious society for all.

Over the past twenty years we have had an increasing Muslim population with many young Muslim families moving to Dorchester. Recognising growth in the Dorchester Muslim community, Dorset County Council has kindly supported us by identifying a suitable old Council building for our prayers/gatherings during Islamic festivals and education sessions. We have been leasing this building for the past couple of years but the Council was keen to sell the property. They offered us the first opportunity to buy for £350,000.

By the grace of Allah SWT, and the generous donations received from all of you, we have purchased and fully paid for the building at the cost of £350,000 as of the 15th of December, 2017.
