ABOUT US

Dorchester Islamic Centre (DIC) is a registered charity based in Dorchester. Situated in the beautiful county of Dorset and established in 2000, DIC was formed to serve the spiritual and cultural needs of the Muslim community. We strive to live by the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah (sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him) which promote a peaceful and harmonious society for all.

Over the past two decades, the Muslim community in Dorchester has experienced significant growth, with a notable increase in the number of young Muslim families settling in the area. In recognition of this development, Dorset County Council kindly supported our community by identifying a suitable former council building to serve as a place of worship, as well as a venue for gatherings during Islamic festivals and educational sessions.

This building was initially leased to us, however, when the Council expressed their intention to sell the property, they generously extended to us the first opportunity to purchase it at a price of £350,000.
By the grace of Allah SWT and through the generous contributions of our community members, we were able to purchase the building in full for the sum of £350,000, with the transaction completed on December 15, 2017"
